Freddie Rick's Community Involvement
Faith is an important part of Freddie Rick's life. Most of his decisions are
grounded in his belief in Biblical principles regarding finances and helping others.
Freddie credits his wife Mitzi for being a great influence in this particular area.
"If you just follow the rules of the Good Book, it kind of lays it out there," Freddie
says. "Mitzi had that foundation, that upbringing, and she is the kind of person that
I strive to be."
Their faith is reflected in their support for a variety of charities and causes.
The Ricks are very involved in their support of The Gideons, an interdenominational
organization of Christian business and professional men who are members of Protestant
and evangelical churches. The volunteer organization gives out Bibles in more than 180
countries around the world. The Gideons traditionally make Bibles available to
soldiers entering the military. They have successfully placed Bibles in millions of
hotel rooms around the world.
Another group that the Ricks support heavily is the Haggai Institute, which trains
local Christians overseas how they can be influential in the non-Western world. More
than 50,000 leaders have been trained in the program. Their personal goal is for each
graduate to pass on training to a hundred others. The group currently has graduates
in 178 countries and continues to experience exponential growth.
The Ricks are also supporters of the Joyce Meyer Ministries. Freddie says, "She is no
doubt, in our opinion, one of the greatest teachers in practical living that has ever
existed." Joyce Meyer Ministries has high standards of financial accountability and
uses 83 percent of their funds for outreach and program services and to help the
physical needs of the world's less fortunate.
Freddie and Mitzi Rick also help gospel music performers on the local and national level.
"One of the most rewarding areas is helping with various needs that occur in our small
community in which we live," Freddie says. "We always try to help with those
individual needs when the opportunity presents itself. This is an area that I would
encourage everyone to participate. It is of the utmost importance that we help those
around us when needed."
