Early Life of Freddie Rick
BetterTrades founder Freddie Rick was blessed to come from small town roots. The principles he learned from his childhood still permeate his life today, as he continues to build the No. 1 stock market education company in the country.
Freddie Rick was born in Kentwood, La., a rural town in northeast Louisiana, close to the Mississippi border. A look at the Kentwood website reveals the presence of the Kentwood Museum, the Kentwood Music Club, the Kentwood Garden Club, the Kentwood Rotary Club, the Kentwood Lions Club, the Kentwood Art Guild, and the Macedonia Lodge. There is also a special link to the town's most-famous export: singer and entertainer Britney Spears, who grew up in Kentwood and lived down the street from the Rick family.
Growing up in a small town, Freddie was able to spend time at many of the town's restaurants, like the Bamboo Catfish and Steak House, the Chicken Basket, Skinney's Restaurant, and Peggy's Drive-In. Kentwood is also home to the Camp Moore Confederate Museum, former site of a Confederate induction center and training camp and a cemetery with more than 400 buried soldiers.
Kentwood is well known for its high quality of drinking water. There is a number of bottled water companies based in Kentwood, including Kentwood Spring Water, a conglomerate of Japan-based Suntori, which makes the 10-K sports drink. Kentwood Spring Water is available for home delivery.
Freddie Rick's father owned a metal building and welding business. Freddie spent many hours helping his father and working hard when he wasn't at school. Many other children got a chance to goof off when school was out, but Freddie was needed to help with the business. That may be a contributing reason for his willingness to work hard today.
