Freddie Rick's Trading Strategy
The approach people take with their stock market trades will usually change over the years. It typically varies depending on income, how much money someone is willing to risk, how aggressive they want to be in their trading account, and their level of risk tolerance. People generally take a more conservative approach to their trades as they accumulate wealth. The idea is to put less money at risk in order to keep more of the account that's already been built.
The same is true for BetterTrades founder Freddie Rick, who finds himself using more conservative strategies than he did while amassing his fortune in the stock market.
"I realized I'm in a place where I don't need to double my money on every trade," Freddie says. "I don't have to be as aggressive on every trade."
When he was first learning to trade in the stock market, Freddie was a very aggressive trader. He would sometimes take chances that he would never consider taking today. Freddie admits that many times he would enter a trade and stay in too long, only to end up taking less profits – or even a loss – because he was too aggressive.
These days Freddie generally limits his trading to selling puts and using iron condor credit spreads. He continues to be an active trader, although business obligations have cut into his ability to participate as much as possible.
But the idea of making money by trading in the stock market remains a big part of his life. He likes to say that the ability to trade has given him the freedom and flexibility that he's always wanted.
"You could put me on an island somewhere or in a cave and, as long as I have an internet connection, I could make money," Freddie says.
Such autonomy is appealing to people like Freddie, who want to make personal financial and investment decisions.
"It's up to you," Freddie says. "You are in control of your own destiny. You don't have to wait for someone else to achieve your success. The success or failure depends on you."
